A simple (but very very not easy) horizontal shooting game where you shoot squids so that they don't reach your precious... uh, whatever's off the bottom of the screen.

Scoring is simple. One point for each squid. That's it

WARNING: Because TIC-80 is weird, playability of the web version is inconsistent, especially across browsers. If you're experiencing severe lag or skips, try downloading the game.

Note about the early versions: The current version was uploaded before the Fries jam's due date, so it's still the jam version! :)

<rant>

TIC-80 sucks. Prototyping in TIC-80 is awesome but then you export your game to the web and it sucks. Or you're afraid of the character limit and you make small variable names that suck. Or you only have one long file to put all your code in and it sucks.

The music editor is meh. The sprite editor is okay. The sound editor is cool. I didn't use the map editor for this project, but it's okay. The code editor is good enough. I like the minimal API. Booting into a fake command prompt is extremely unintuitive and makes it harder than it needs to be to get other people into developing for the TIC-80.

It is so close to being this awesome intuitive software for making 2D pixel games with, but it falls short in a few too many key aspects for me to be satisfied with it. I don't know of any better options, though! Not for this specific kind of thing! Uuuggghhhhh

And when I say "this specific kind of thing", I'm talking about gamedev nirvana. It has everything you need to make a video game, all in one package. It doesn't have the best versions of everything you need, I already went over why, but it has everything. I just wish it was better for that specifically, I guess.

TIC-80 is already good for sizecoding and as a fantasy computer to make demoscene stuff with but come on man

But back to what started this rant. WHY DO TIC-80 WEB BUILDS SUCK HARDER THAN WEB BUILDS OF GAMEMAKER GAMES. GAMEMAKER IS A MORE FEATUREFUL AND BLOATED ENGINE, IT SHOULD BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND. NESBOX WHAT ARE YOU DOING
